Following the appointment of Kier as the main contractor on a flagship cultural venue in Northumberland, the project team, together with partners at Northumberland County Council, are celebrating a key milestone.
The completion of the steel frame on the new Market Pavilion in Blyth means the delivery of the new culture venue, which is set to provide a significant boost to Blyth’s cultural, community and leisure offer, is one step closer.
The Market Pavilion will provide residents with a new events space for cultural activities and creative learning as well as a café, and a three-screen cinema.
By bringing the excitement and experience of cinema back to Blyth town centre, it is hoped the improvement works will attract more residents and visitors to the town.
As part of the build, Kier is delivering a substantial social value programme that has already seen nearly 150 hours of volunteering delivered since work began on site.
"We are delighted have been appointed by Northumberland County Council to support Advance Northumberland in the development of a new Market Pavilion in Blyth.
Our highly skilled workforce is adept at supporting many of our clients ambitions to revitalise towns and cities. This state-of-the-art cinema and events venue will be a significant addition to the Blyth community, providing both social and economic benefits that will enhance the town centre for years to come."
