Kier has been appointed to Yorkshire Water’s £850m complex non-infrastructure works framework, covering the delivery period for capital investment programme, AMP8 (2025–2030).
The framework supports Yorkshire Water’s significant planned investment in water and wastewater assets over the next five years.
This framework is part of Yorkshire Water’s AMP8 investment programme, its largest-ever environmental initiative, which has been approved by Ofwat, the water industry regulator, at £8.3bn in total.
Through this framework, Kier will provide expertise in civil engineering, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (MEICA), and building works to enhance Yorkshire Water’s clean water and wastewater networks across the region.
The work will be delivered by Kier’s Water business unit, which is part of the Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks business division.
During AMP7, Kier partnered with Yorkshire Water to deliver key non-infrastructure projects, including:
- Sladen Water Treatment Works: A £16 million upgrade involving new inlet works, a refurbished Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system, and an 8Ml/d Magnetic Ion Exchange (MIEX®) plant. The project also included sodium hypochlorite dosing, asset removals, and relocation of the MSP system to meet new Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) standards.
- Keighley Marley Wastewater Treatment Works: Part of a £18m project under the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) to improve phosphorus removal to 0.5mg/l. Works included new dosing systems, pumps, and a Motor Control Centre (MCC), upgrades to sludge treatment facilities and removal of outdated infrastructure.
“We’re delighted to be appointed to Yorkshire Water’s AMP8 Complex Non-Infrastructure Framework, supporting the delivery of its largest ever environmental investment programme.
